Tree Time!
Meridian has launched a tree initiative and you can get involved! Pick up a free tree or two at the Meridian Market on the Green (near north Meridian Mall parking lot) on Sep 26, 30 or Oct 3. You can also participate in a Tree Planting Day at Chippewa Middle School at noon on Oct. 3 (volunteer here) For more information, contact 517.853.4466

Participate in Commission meetings on the 1st Wednesdays at 7pm at on Comcast Ch 21, at www.homtv.net, on Facebook. Guests are welcome on Zoom or by telephone during meetings at 517-349-5232. Coal Tar Sealant Ban Enacted
Meridian Board of Trustees passed a ban on the use of coal tar and other sealants containing a high level of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Meridian joins over a dozen communities in Michigan, two states, and others who've banned these sealants. Read more.
47,534 lbs.!
Over a dozen community gardens in Meridian Township help reduce food insecurity, improve dietary intake, and strengthen community and family relationships. Through a partnership with the Greater Lansing Food Bank Garden Project, Meridian community gardeners will help produce an estimated 47534 lbs. of fresh fruit and vegetables this year and serve 574 residents. Renewable News

Join the League of Michigan Bicyclists (LMB) and the Kiefer Foundation in a September commuter challenge to BIKE IT! The goal is 20,000 miles bicycled across Michigan. REGISTRATION IS FREE and a generous supporter wants to give LMB $0.50 for every mile YOU ride! They've challenged you to use your bike to commute to work, school, the grocery store, a doctor's office, out to dinner, to a friend's house, or anywhere that you would normally drive.
