I understand the frustration however the developers want a development that is sustainable and profitable. You have to have the income and demographics to make it successful.

Denny Wilson

Mr. Nelson, our community has the income and demographics to make our community successful. What we lack is leadership, which is on it's way. The ARC (Atlanta Regional Commission) performed a LCI (Livable Community Initiatives) Study in June of 2012. The Median HH Income was $58,200 and the Average HH Income was $63,586. We are not a POOR community. Our income levels prevented us from receiving any funding from the Federal Opportunity Zone. The Median HH Income for Cobb County was $76,904 and the Average HH Income was $96,722. There, you have the numbers!

The only results a new study will reveal is a higher income level since many of the vacant homes in the community have been purchased and revitalized, which is more than I can say for the South Cobb Redevelopment Authority. If you see a need to further this discussion I'm open!

Thanks for reading and providing your comments!

Doug Stoner now wants to add community input! ProgressNow is located in Colorado. Why is Georgia tax dollars funding a company from Colorado when there are reputable agencies here like UGA, Georgia State and The Atlanta Regional Commission that can provide LCI studies for our community. This is a way for him to push out the $700,000.00 he will receive soon from the Six Flags Special Tax District taxes paid by some of the businesses in the Six Flags Area. He is sitting on a study from June of 2012 done by The Atlanta Regional Commission that hasn't produced any progress because it has not been used. So why, of a sudden, a new study! I'll tell you why.....$700,000.00!!!!

The Cobb BOC (with Commissioner Cupid's selecting) appoints four (4) of the members of the South Cobb Redevelopment Authority and the Cobb Delegation appoints the other three (3). Doug Stoner, as a State Senator walked this through the Georgia Senate in 2011, securing a placement for himself to oversee our community knowing he would allow us no mutual progress. Six Flags business owners are now paying back bonds for an authority on an area that is nowhere near development. Maybe they need to ask Doug Stoner, "show me the money!"

And lastly, Commissioner Cupid, the last time I checked the land still belonged to the county. It's funded with tax paying dollars!
