Thank you for your interest in volunteering to be a "Buddy" at Pieces of Me Camp. Pieces of Me Camp is a
therapeutically informed day camp that includes teaching, discussion, and fun activities to help adopted children and teenagers explore their identity, process their past, celebrate who God created them to be, and discover their story.
A Buddy is just that...a person who volunteers to stick close to a camper and engage in activities along side the camper. Buddies have special trauma informed training that is given prior to camp that helps them connect, understand, and help their camper through their time at camp.
Time Commitment: A Buddy stays with their camper through out their time at camp. We have several Buddy options: You can be a buddy for the full day of camp 8:00-4:45pm or a morning session camper 8:00-12:30pm, an afternoon session camper from 12:15-4:45pm, or a Transition Buddy helper from 11:30-2pm.
Dates: Kid's Pieces of Me Camp is July 22th-26th, 2024 M-TH and then Friday afternoon from 10:30-4pm is Family Celebration.
Volunteer Requirements: Must be 15 or older, have parent/guardian's consent, and comply with Code of Conduct and Policies of Known & Loved, complete online Abuse Prevention Course, Supply 2 References, and attend in-person Buddy Training.
Volunteer Benefits: lunch and snacks will be provided as well as cost of activities (ropes course & trampoline park). Training Certificate and Service Hours Certificate (up to 24 hrs for Morning or Afternoon Session, 40hrs for All Day Volunteers). A letter of recommendation and reference will be provided upon request.
